Andy Murray plays the European Open in Antwerp!

Antwerp, August 21, 2019 – The European Open ATP250 immediately evolves to an unprecedented high point for Belgium: Andy MURRAY recently signed in and the European Open is therefore bringing one of the BIG 4 to the Lotto Arena between 13 and 20 October. This is a unique opportunity for every tennis fan to see Andy at work in Antwerp.

Briton Andy Murray has received just about all honors from the tennis world at the age of 31. He managed to win gold twice at the Olympic Games, becoming the first player to win back-to-back Olympic singles titles in tennis, won the ATP Finals in London and achieved no less than a record 45 ATP titles.  Absolute top player and favorite of many tennis fans, unfortunately Andy recently underwent hip surgery from which he had to recover for some months and therefore focused on doubles.

Not more than a week ago, Murray told the public he planned to return to singles action and played his first singles match since surgery at the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati last week. He played against former European Open winner Richard Gasquet (ATP34) and mentioned to media he is building up his endurance again.

Andy commented: “I remember the Davis Cup finals in Ghent against Belgium as if it were yesterday and particularly enjoyed the great atmosphere the Belgian public created. I am really looking forward to coming back to play in Antwerp in October .

Moreover, the European Open ATP 250 edition 2019 holds much more in store, as the level of the tournament is also assured of top 20 talent including native David GOFFIN (ATP15) and Frenchman Gaël MONFILS (ATP13).
