Super Tuesday did not disappoint this year. The first round between crowd-puller Andy Murray and home player Kimmer Coppejans became a true spectacle that set the flooded Lotto Arena on fire several times.
At first, Coppejans seemed anything but impressed by his opponent. The Belgian kept up with Murray’s game during the first set, 6-4, a close call.
In the second set, however, Coppejans once again showed the crowd that he was worth his wildcard.
The Belgian showed the public his true fighting spirit and even converted two break points. The Brit fought back and wrapped up the evening session with a decisive tie-break, 7-4.
“It was not easy against Kimmer, who was playing fantastically, but I think I managed my first match well.”, Murray reacted satisfied. The other results of today can be found via this link.
