Antwerp, 15 October 2021 – The X-Man is back! None other than Xavier Malisse will give the European Open some extra color. The 41-year-old from Kortrijk will play the doubles alongside his partner Lloyd Harris in Antwerp. A new stunt for the organization, after having attracted Andy Murray.
European Open, which takes place from 17 to 24 October, makes a new stunt: Xavier Malisse (41), who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon (2002) and later wrote even more Belgian history as the winner of the doubles at Roland Garros alongside Olivier Rochus (2004), takes his tennis racket again. The Belgian will play doubles alongside his pupil Lloyd Harris. Malisse has been part of the 24-year-old South African’s coaching staff for a few months now.
“We are delighted that we have been able to secure Xavier for our tournament with a wildcard”, tournament director Dick Norman said. “And he enters with ambition. He will certainly want to prove himself at the side of his pupil. This will provide extra sparks. We are convinced that this will give the tournament extra cachet.”
