Devastating forehands. Elegant backhands. Powerful aces. With ticket sales now underway, the countdown to a new edition of the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open has officially begun. As an ATP 250 tournament, the event has built a strong reputation on the international tennis calendar over the years, with names such as Jannik Sinner, Richard Gasquet, Alexander Bublik and Andy Murray among its past winners. This year, the tournament will look to crown a successor to Canadian top player Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-5), who claimed the title for a second time last year.

The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open builds on the momentum of its 10th anniversary edition in Brussels, which combined a strong player field with a venue focused on comfort and fan experience. The setting was well received, resulting in strong attendance and a vibrant atmosphere. In addition to Flemish and Walloon supporters, a notable number of international, English-speaking fans attended, underlining the tournament’s global appeal.

Beyond the fan experience, the tournament also provides a strong sporting platform, offering the opportunity to see world-class players compete at close range. With a balanced mix of established stars, emerging talents and leading Belgian players, the event presents a high-quality and diverse line-up. Each match contributes to a week of top-level tennis. The 2026 edition once again brings together a strong field, with Zizou Bergs (ATP-44) and Raphaël Collignon (ATP-71) among the first confirmed names.

One of last year’s standout performers was Belgium’s Raphaël Collignon (ATP-71). The 24-year-old delivered a series of strong performances, including in the Davis Cup, and reached the semi-finals in Brussels. He narrowly lost to eventual champion Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP-5), but recorded wins over Bergs (ATP-44), Comesana (ATP-105) and Davidovich Fokina (ATP-27). Despite a wrist injury, Collignon has maintained his form in 2026, claiming titles at the Challenger events in Monza and Pau.

Zizou Bergs (ATP-44) has also confirmed his participation in the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. The 26-year-old from Pelt has made four previous main-draw appearances and will aim to achieve his best result to date. A recent victory over Andrey Rublev (ATP-15) at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo further underlined his level and confirmed his position as a consistent top-50 player.

The participation of players such as Zizou Bergs reflects the strength of Belgian tennis today and its ability to compete at the highest level. The BNP Paribas Fortis European Open brings together established names and emerging talent, offering fans the opportunity to experience world-class tennis up close.
