Entry List European Open 2020

The European Open in Antwerp has the strongest entry list ever:

Top 10 player Matteo Berrettini (ATP 8)
and 7 other top 20-players are participating

Antwerp, the 23rd of September 2020  – The European Open has managed to bring no fewer than 8 top 20 players to the Lotto Arena, including top 10 player Matteo Berrettini (ATP 8). David Goffin was the first to confirm his participation in the tournament, which we really appreciate. Fabio Fognini, Grigor Dimitrov, Andrey Rublev and Kei Nishikori are well-known names and top players who will be participating for the first time in Antwerp.

“In addition to (Belgian) top players such as David Goffin and our doubles duo Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen, it was our main goal to bring a good mix of new world top players and the top players of the future to the Lotto Arena,” said tournament director, Dick Norman.

“With Matteo Berrettini (winner of 3 ATP 250 tournaments and semi-finalist at the US Open last year) we are bringing in a foreign top 10 player for the first time, something we are very proud of. Fabio Fognini, a colorful figure in the tour, who won the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo last year, we have been trying to get to Antwerp for years and we have now succeeded. ”

“I am also very pleased with the arrival of Grigor Dimitrov aka Baby Federer. He has already won eight ATP titles, including the ATP World Tour Finals (2017). Kei Nishikori is another well-known name who was in the top 10 in the world for three years with a fourth place as his best ranking. Andrey Rublev, who has already won 4 ATP-250 tournaments, will also be there. ”

“No fewer than 8 (!) Players from the top 20, including a top 10 player (7 of them are ex-top 10 players) have confirmed their participation in the European Open, so the fans will be able to enjoy a lot of top tennis. ”

“As always, this year we also bring top Next-Gen talent with 21-year-old Alex de Minaur (ATP 27), who is fourth in the Next Gen competition and reached the final of the Next-Gen Masters in Milan last year. ”

Kimmer Coppejans gets a wild card for the main table and Ruben Bemelmans for the qualifying tournament,” said Dick Norman.

EXTREMELY SAFE ENJOYMENT OF TOP TENNIS

“We are very happy that the tournament can still take place in these challenging circumstances,” said Dick Norman. “When we see this field of participants, all the efforts made in recent months pay off and we are very happy that all these top players are coming to Flanders. Thanks in advance to our loyal sponsors for helping to make this happen. ”

“We have worked very hard for months with a very motivated team to organize a safe tournament. We, therefore, guarantee that we will be able to let the fans enjoy top tennis in safe conditions. ”

“More good news is that we will be allowed to welcome a limited audience. We can sell almost 30% of the capacity, taking into account the one-meter distance between the different bubbles. For example, a full row will always be left free and a seat between the various bubbles. Save the date! We will start ticket sales this Friday, September 25th.

“Information about tickets to see our tennis players live can be found on  www.europeanopen.be. If you want to be there, don’t wait too long to order your tickets, because we hear from many Belgian and foreign tennis fans that they are craving top tennis like this. ”

From 18 to 25 October, the Lotto Arena in Antwerp will once again be the hotspot for top tennis in Flanders. The complete entry list for the European Open can be consulted at www.europeanopen.be.
