De Minaur reaches the Final

The Australian Alex De Minaur (ATP 29), faced Grigor Dimitrov (ATP 20) in the second semifinal on Saturday afternoon. An exciting match in which the victory went to Alex De Minaur in three sets (7/6,  6/7, 6/4). The two faced each other only once on the tennis court. At the US Open Dimitrov was able to beat the Australian, but today, he was beaten by the somewhat stronger De Minaur.

In the first set, both players were not always able to keep their serving game. The first set was decided at a score of 6/6 with a tie-break which was eventually won 7/4 by De Minaur. The second set was as exciting as the first set. In a decisive tie-break it was this time Dimitrov who was the better player at the crucial moments and won the tie-break with 7/3. In an all-decisive third set, De Minaur went through Dimitrov’s serve once to win the final set with 6/4.

Grigor Dimitrov (ATP 20), only had to play one match to reach the semi-finals at the European Open. His last final dates from 2018 at the ATP-500 tournament in Rotterdam where he lost to Roger Federer.

Alex De Minaur who, with his 21 years of age, already defeated the former champion of the European Open of 2016, Richard Gaquet. After his victory against Gasquet, Lopez and Giron, the Australian reaches his first semifinal of the season.
